Safeguarding and child protection
Aadyah works with children and with people in vulnerable circumstances. This page summarises how we protect them.
This is a public summary. The full safeguarding and child protection policy is approved by the board and is available on request at info@aadyah.org. Publish the approved document here once it is signed off.
Who this applies to
Every member of staff, every volunteer, every consultant and every partner representative who comes into contact with a child or a person in vulnerable circumstances through Aadyah’s work.
Before anyone starts
- Screening and reference checks.
- Training on recognising and reporting concerns.
- Written agreement to this policy and to our code of conduct.
- A child protection process that anyone working with children completes without exception.
Consent and dignity
Nobody who works with Aadyah becomes a case study, a photograph or a fundraising device without their informed, written consent. We do not publish identifiable details of children. We do not use anyone’s difficulty to raise money. Where a story is told, it is told because the person wanted it told.
Raising a concern
Any concern about the safety or wellbeing of a person we work with can be raised confidentially at info@aadyah.org with the subject line Safeguarding. It is seen only by the person responsible for safeguarding. You may raise a concern anonymously.
What we are not
Aadyah is not a crisis service and does not provide diagnosis, therapy or emergency care. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the police on 112. For immediate mental health support, call Tele-MANAS at 14416 — free, confidential and available 24×7. Childline India can be reached at 1098.
